Matt West, Director, Production

As the Director, Production, Matt West oversees all aspects of video production for DECA, from pre-production through post-production and encoding.

Prior to DECA, Matt served as both a producer and a correspondent for CNN. At CNN, West covered major breaking news events like the Southern California Wildfires of 2007 and Hurricane Katrina – for which he received a Peabody Award for his contributions. Matt also was responsible for the development of numerous online production initiatives for CNN.com that focused primarily on technology, interactive entertainment, and new media.

Prior to CNN, West was a Special Projects producer for Los Angeles television stations KCAL and KCBS, where he developed a variety of news programming initiatives including entertainment and lifestyle reports, local political coverage, and the first anniversary of 9/11.

Matt West received his Bachelor of Arts in Communications from the University of Tampa. He holds several professional certifications for his work in both audio and video production.
