Joe Cane, VP & General Counsel

As Vice President and General Counsel, Joe Cane is responsible for overseeing DECA’s legal department and related initiatives and providing corporate, operational, and strategic advice to DECA regarding all aspects of its business.

Prior to joining DECA, Joe was a senior executive at Sony Connect, a subsidiary of Sony Corporation of America, working in both its corporate development and business and legal affairs groups. During his tenure at Sony, Joe was responsible for implementing a wide-range of new business initiatives and consummating deals involving digital distribution of music and video content via the Internet and mobile devices. He completed transactions with numerous partners, including Starz Entertainment Group, ABC News, Intel Corporation, The Coca Cola Company, Juice Wireless, Reebok, Red Bull, Nike, Showtime Networks, Sony Ericsson, Nellymoser, Alltel Communications, Sun Com Wireless, and GeoTrust.

Before joining Sony, Joe worked in private practice as a corporate and entertainment attorney representing companies in business, media, entertainment, technology, and financial transactions including Sony Pictures, NBC/Universal, Game Show Network, Mandalay Sports Entertainment, Prelude Pictures, The Jim Henson Company, Panasonic, Platinum Technology, CinemaStar Luxury Theaters, and USA Networks.

Joe Cane received his BA from Cornell University in applied economics and business management, his JD from Loyola Law School, and his MBA from the Marshall School of Business at the University of Southern California.
